Scale distortion  --  Signal rendered higher or lower than is expected. Example, Voice sounds too loud in the front seat of a threatre. Frequency distortion often results since frequency response of the ear is different to different levels of volume. Loss of fidelity when the sounds from a large concert hall, for example, are reproduced in a small listening room.
